About The Role
Overview
We are building a team that will develop the value system, name, and identity of the WNBA’s newest team, scheduled to enter the league for the 2026 Season.
We are currently asking Canadians to support this process by sharing their inspiration. Once collected, we’ll narrow the list of names by soliciting feedback from our leadership team, a council of Canadians, and select participants who have previously submitted their inspiration.
At this stage we will narrow the list of names to 2-3 and will begin the design process which will be structured in a series of design sprints, with the goal of building out 2-3 brand systems (1 per name).
Approach
We are assembling a group of unique thinkers with both cross functional expertise and deep subject matter expertise from across North America. The team will function as one entity for the purpose of the project.
Scope
Join the graphic design team developing the Toronto WNBA team brand system alongside other designers, as an active, fully-committed contract designer for the duration of the design phase of the project.
Objectives
Working with the design team and our design mentors, the team will take 2-3 names and turn them into fully working brand systems complete with (but not limited to) logos (primary + secondary), typography, suggested colour usage, patterns (if required), photography style/approach, and sample applications.
Once a final direction is selected, the design team will build out the components of the system so that the brand system can be used by the organization with ease.
